Lot Essay

Between February and May 1972, Moore filled a sketchbook with drawings of grazing sheep, of which the present work is page 29. A facsimile of the sketchbook was published as Henry Moore's Sheep Sketchbook in 1980, with comments by Moore and Kenneth Clark.
