Lot Essay

Though of French descent, Thérèse Lessore was born in Brighton, England in 1884. She held close ties to the Bloomsbury group and was married to artist Bernard Adeney (1878-1966), and latterly became the third wife of Walter Richard Sickert (1860-1942).
