PROPERTY REMOVED FROM FLAXLEY ABBEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Flaxley Abbey in Gloucestershire was originally a 12th century Cistercian Abbey and still retains some exceptional architectural features dating from the 12th and 13th century in what is still known as the Abbot's Room and The Refectory. For almost 300 years the Crawley-Boevey Family owned the estate from 1683 until 1960 when the housed was sold to Mr and Mrs F.B. Watkins who employed Oliver Messel, the artist and designer to improve the property and gardens.
