Lot Essay

These fauteuils are stamped 'BOVO' which has generally been linked to Leonard Beauveau, a menuisier working in the circle of the ébèniste Nicolas Heurtaut, himself maître in 1753 (B. Pallot, The Art of the Chair in 18th Century France, Paris, 1989, p. 218).
