A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI GILT WALNUT CANAPES BY CLAUDE I SENE, CIRCA 1780, THE TAPESTRY PROBABLY BEAUVAIS Each with a rectangular back, padded arms and seat covered in close-nailed tapestry depicting musical attributes, laurel-wreathed hats and floral garlands, the entrelac-carved back with foliate finials, above foliate-wrapped arms with curved supports, and a conformingly-carved seatrail, on turned tapering fluted legs headed by rosette paterae and terminating in toupie feet, stamped G.SENE, 33 in. (84 cm.) high; 54¼ in. (138 cm.) wide; 26¾ in. (68 cm.) deep (2)
