A very similar example of a Qajar eagle pendant is in the Khalili Collection (Stephen Vernoit, Occidentalism, London, 1997, no. 146, p. 193). A further example with original matching suspension band is in the Benaki Museum, Athens (Anna Balian (ed.), Benaki Museum, A Guide to the Museum of Islamic Art, Athens, 2006, no.239, p.176). It is interesting to compare the treatment of the subject with that in India (see for example lot 371) or even further west, in Morocco (see an example sold in these Rooms 17 april 2007, lot 342).
