A BOAR SPEAR COMBINED WITH TWO FLINTLOCK PISTOLS, IN FRENCH MID- 17TH CENTURY STYLE
With 17th Century broad leaf-shaped blade formed with a central gutter to accommodate the pistol barrels on both sides, a pair of small scrolling lugs at the base, pistol barrels each formed in two stages (one with neatly brazed repair) and each struck with maker's mark involving the initials 'VK', attributed to Viet Koch (Neue Støckel 581), opposing plain flat lock-plates each extending to a pair of long iron straps and each carrying a trigger fitted into the mid-point of the haft, the latter octagonal and profusely studded with patterns of domed brass nails and brass fleur-de-lys, and the base fitted with brass moulded shoe.
