A CARVED AND PIERCED WHITE JADE MINIATURE TOOL VASE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of rectangular section, finely carved in high relief and openwork to depict a dense continuous landscape formed by jagged rocks, pine trees and a crane in flight below wispy clouds, further detailed with a lone scholar in a pavilion, set on stilts beside a river bank, observing his companion in the far distance walking on a terraced path, whilst further along, a young attendant is fanning a stove in preparation for making tea, all raised on four short splayed feet, fitting into a separately carved rectangular spinach-green jade stand with stylised C-scrolls forming the foot
