A CARVED CIRCULAR RED LACQUER 'NINE DRAGONS' BOX AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The top of the domed cover is well carved with a five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl, encircled by four dragons writhing amidst churning waves above four further dragons on the box which is raised on a key-fret-incised foot. The interior and base are lacquered black.
11 ¼ in. (28.5 cm.) diam.
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
