A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSBOW
EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With 27 ½ in. (70 cm.) steel bow, fruitwood tiller with cheek-piece and inlaid with white staghorn panels and diamonds, some engraved including one behind the aperture rear-sight depicting a hunting scene, another signed 'K. BAUMANN', set triggers, iron trigger-guard, and original twisted cord string with woollen pom-poms
