Kitae [forging pattern]: close ko-itame with fine jinie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: sanbonsugi style gunomeba of nioi-honi with ko-nie

Nakago [tang]: ubu, taka-no-ha file marks, single mekugi-ana, ha-agari kurijiri

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Tokubetsu Hozon Token [sword especially worthy of preservation] no. 149978 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword] on 27th December 2004.

The sword appears to be by the third generation, and best-known Kanenobu following the first generation who worked in Kambe in Mino Province, and who specialized in the sanbonsugi hamon.
