A Rouen polychrome dated oviform jug

Painted in blue with St. John the Baptist in a mountainous landscape with buildings within a palm frond surround, the reverse and cylindrical neck painted in colours with Oriental figures and birds among pagodas, trees and grasses, the lower part inscribed in black jean de la Bardouiller. 1763., above a band of interlocking iron-red S-scrolls, the loop handle with iron-red flowers and foliage (chips to foot and small chip to lip)
