A THREE-PIECE SILVER DEMI-TASSE SERVICE WITH TRAY**
Maker's mark of Tiffany & Co., New York, 1900; the design attributed to Paulding Farnham
Each of hexagonal vase form, comprising a coffee pot, covered sugar bowl and cream jug, each applied with bellflower swags, the coffee pot with an acanthus-clad demi-putto, supporting bellflower swags, the scroll handle with ivory insulators and acanthus joins, the shaped oval tray with ribbon border and conforming demi-putto pierced handles, each marked on base, also marked with Paris 1900 and Buffalo 1901 exposition marks
The coffee pot 10¾in. high; the tray 18¾in. long over handles; gross weight 63oz. (4)

Lot Essay

Attributed to Paulding Farnham, this tea service and tray was exhibited at both the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle and the 1901 Buffalo Pan-American Exposition. A centerpiece bowl of the same design also was exhibited in 1900 in Paris, and sold from the Masco Collection at Sotheby's New York, January 20, 1998, lot 42. The Tiffany archives retain a design drawing for the coffee pot, and notes that the service was manufactured at a cost of $1,526.35.
