AN ENGLISH PIKEMAN'S ARMOUR
CIRCA 1640
Comprising pot helmet formed in two halves joined by a low comb, the base previously fitted with plume-holder, broad turned down brim with recessed border struck with a mark and studded with domed rivets, gorget of one plate front and rear with plain recessed border, breast plate with low medial ridge coming to a small point and strongly flanged at the base, struck with a mark below the neck, fitted with a pair of pivot hooks for the shoulder straps and carrying a pair of hinged overlapping tassets embossed in imitation of seperate lames and studded with vertical rows of lining rivets, back plate with recessed basal flange matching the breast plate and tassets (shoulder straps missing) and the edges finished with plain turns throughout
