Chancery 4° (205 x 144mm). Gothic type, initial spaces with guide-letter. (Minor scattered spotting, some washing, a few skilful repairs in margins.) Modern vellum with ties.
Fourth edition of this popular 'medical discourse relating, among other things, to hygiene with regard to age, sex and climate ... and with regard to food for persons of given occupations. At least eleven editions were issued before 1550' (Stillwell, Awakening). In addition to the subjects cited by Stillwell, there are also chapters on fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, oil and wine.
