Lot Essay

The reference 570 is one of the most appreciated and well known vintage watches by Patek Philippe. Introduced in 1938, it larger scaled version of the reference 96. It remained in production until 1972. With a 35.5 mm. diameter, it was quite a large watch for the time, but it is the perfect size for the modern wrist. Furthermore, the flat bezel gives the watch an overall large profile when worn on the wrist in particular with the bold 20 mm lug gauge for the strap.

The presently offered 570G is in a near perfect case with crisp hallmarks and no signs of polishing. The dial is wonderfully preserved with raised hard enamel and exquisite raised pearl minute markers. The 27 SC center seconds movement further distinguished this fine watch, a specimen example of second series 570.
