    Lot Essay

    Jean VI de Portugal (1767-1826) est un souverain fondamental dans l'histoire du Portugal et du Brésil. Régent de Portugal de 1792 à 1816 durant la folie de sa mère Marie Ière, il devient roi en 1816. Chassé de son pays avec toute la famille royale lors de l'invasion du Portugal par les troupes françaises en 1807, il s'enfuit au Brésil, principale colonie de la couronne portugaise. Lors de son retour à Lisbonne en 1821, il laisse son fils ainé Pierre à Rio de Janeiro. Un an plus tard ce dernier proclamera l'indépendance du Brésil et prendra le titre d'empereur.
