A classic ethno-mycological work, on the role of mushrooms in history, culture and religion, especially in Russia and Middle America, with a strong emphasis on linguistic and ethnographic research. The work allegedly inspired the "rediscovery" of the magic mushroom by Timothy Leary and many others during the counterculture movements of the 1960's. (2)
