FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 157 of 512 sets, INSCRIBED BY ROBERT GORDON WASSON. Designed by Hans Mardersteig and printed at the Stamperia Valdonega in Verona. A classic ethno-mycological work, on the role of mushrooms in history, culture and religion, especially in Russia and Middle America, with a strong emphasis on linguistic and ethnographic research. The work allegedly inspired the "rediscovery" of the magic mushroom by Timothy Leary and many others during the counterculture movements of the 1960's. (2)
