PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF CEDRIC AND ANNE-CHARLOTTE MABY (LOTS 671-677 INCLUSIVE)
Cedric Maby first went to China when he joined the Diplomatic Service in 1939. While he was there, he studied Mandarin and developed a keen interest in Chinese culture, returning in 1957 with his wife and three children. They acquired a small collection of paintings and ceramics during this time, taking great pleasure in later years in sharing the beauty of these objects and the stories that accompanied them with friends and family. Cedric Maby published memoirs of his travels and Chinese poetry translated into Welsh.
