Lot Essay

The original 'Boy' shop was opened by Steph Raynor and John Krivine in March 1977 as a rival to 'Seditionaires', becoming the tabloid face of Punk due to its infamous window displays. According to Krivine the design for this signage was introduced in the 1980's, after the Germanic Eagle was incorporated on to a t-shirt design in about 1982. At this time the shop began to attract and become a focal point for the 'New Romantic' movement, and was frequented by Boy George, Spandau Ballet and others
