During 1967 and 1968, the Beatles set aside several new recordings for their forthcoming animation movie, The Yellow Submarine. Whilst the film was being completed, these tracks were assembled for inclusion on the film soundtrack and the accompanying LP. In 1968 it was proposed that an EP would be released to include the four new songs from the Yellow Submarine LP with Across The Universe, which was unreleased at that time. The EP was never released. The mix of Across the Universe that appears on this acetate is different to either of the official releases of the song.
