This lot consists of three paintings.
Born in Suzhou, Wa Weng (1908-2008) was a renowned painter, calligrapher, and seal engraver. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Chinese Calligraphers’ Association and the China Society of Cultural Relics. He was also a librarian at the Jiangsu Research Institute of Culture, a consultant of the Suzhou Art Federation, the Suzhou Landscaping Bureau and the Suzhou Calligraphers’ Association. In addition, he advised the Suzhou Library Advisory, and was president of the Dongwu Press Association.
Born in Suzhou, Wu Peng (1920-2009) was a renowned landscape painter. He was director of the Chinese Paintings department at the Suzhou Industrial Art College, as well as president of the Suzhou Institute of Chinese and of the Suzhou Wu School Research Association. Wu Peng started studying painting at a very early age and focused on old masters of the Tang and Qing dynasty.
