    Hidden for many decades in a discreet private collection, the following paintings, ranging from an impressive Pissarro landscape of 1876 to a vibrant Chagall still life of 1962, together with a further group of works to be offered in the Impressionist and Modern Evening Sale on 3 November, offer a fascinating insight into art collecting in the United States in the mid-20th century.
