Grand Duke Nicholas Mikhailovich Romanov, Russkie portrety [...], St. Petersburg, 1905-1909, I, no. 152, illustrated (then in oval frame).
Entered military service at a tender age in 1781, he saw active service during the Russo-Turkish war and in Switzerland, and was present at the battle of Austerlitz, and in 1806 in Moldavia, before retiring in 1808.
