    Lot Essay

In the Summer of 1957 Frost moved from Leeds back to St Ives heralding a period of work in which his compositions become more fragmented with a greater ambiguity in form and content. The 'V' shape, symbolising the female nude, starts to appear and has been employed in the present work accentuating the uncertain fusion of landscape and human figure that Frost explored in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
