ALEKSEI METROPOLITAN OF MOSCOW RUSSIAN, LATE 19TH CENTURY St. Aleksei represented frontally, full-length, a seraphim appearing on his head-cover, his halo with geometric border, blessing with one hand and holding the Gospels in the other, an epigonation hanging over his right arm, painted realistically, the silver-gilt oklad with traces of gilding 12¼ x 10½ in. (31.1 x 26.7 cm)
