    Lot Essay

The panorama was originally a gift from Adams to Eldridge (Ted) Spencer, an architect and President of the San Francisco Art Association. His wife Jeannette Dyer Spencer, who had studied stained glass design at the Louvre, was hired as resident artist at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite and was responsible for much of the striking design work still visible today in the lodge.
