CARTE-DE-VISITE PHOTOGRAPHS OF EUROPEAN ROYALTY -- A collection of 64 photographs, c.1885, of European Royalty, in recessed mounts, many leaves with empty spaces (some pencilled identifications very faint or deleted). Contemporary brown morocco spine, upper cover of bronze with 2 raised geometrical patterns composed of chased bronze and bevelled pieces of malachite, the inner one enclosing the letters 'CM' underneath a couronne fermée, the lower cover morocco panelled with bronze, clasp.
The photographs include Queen Victoria, the Emperor and Empress of Germany and the Crown Prince, the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, the King and Queen of Greece, King Vittorio Emanule II and King Umberto I of Italy, The King and Queen of Belgium, Elizabeth of Austria, Tsar Alexander III and Tsarina Dagmar-Marie of Russia, and King William III and the Queen of Holland. At the end there are three loose photographs including one of Edward, Prince of Wales as a Bencher of the Middle Temple.
