This rare portfolio, containing hand-printed serigraphs by some of Baroda's most well-known artists and teachers, was created to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of one of the country's most venerable academic institutions, the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda.
Limited to an edition of fifty, this portfolio includes works by the painters Gulammohammed Sheikh, K.G. Subramanyan, Bhupen Khakhar, Nasreen Mohamedi and Jeram Patel, amongst others.
Founded as a University in 1949 by Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad of the erstwhile state of Baroda, the institution is named after his grandfather and boasts one of the subcontinent's most respected faculties of fine arts. With its illustrious list of teachers and alumni, the faculty has played a significant role in the development of modern Indian art, and is credited with giving rise to what is now known as the 'Baroda School' of artists.
