A MASSIVE AUBUSSON CARPET
FRANCE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
The eau-de-nil field with floral garlands surrounding an ivory cartouche with a laurel wreath border centred with a large floral bouquet of roses, peonies, poppies and gladioli, each side centred with an ivory framed cartouche issuing acanthus scrolls, within a broad straw-coloured border with scrolling acanthus entwined with light blue ribbon between a fuschia-pink moulded leaf and acanthus inner stripe and an architecturally moulded outer stripe, minor repairs, backed, overall very good condition
30ft.6in. x 15ft.8in. (928cm. x 476cm.)
