Lot Essay

This soapstone figure is stylistically similar to a larger (23.5 cm.) figure, that appears to be stone, and dated Western Han, excavated from the mausoleum of the Prince of Chu, Shizishan, Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, illustrated by Gu Fang, The Complete Collection of Jades Unearthed in China, vol. 7, Beijing, 2005, p. 133.
