Lot Essay

Relatively little is known about Pierre Lenordez origins and personal history, although he exhibited at the Salon between 1855 to 1877. For a similar conversation group entitled 'Angelo', which also describes a stallion rearing in defence of a small terrier, see Christopher Payne Animals in Bronze, Antique Collectors' Club, 1988, p.297, H62.
