AN UNUSUAL LARGE AMETHYST 'BOULDER'
Of thick, irregular outline, the semi-translucent stone is carved in high relief on one side with five lions, two with balls, playing amidst sprigs of lingzhi, and on the rock-carved reverse with a large cane of bamboo and a crane grasping a branch bearing two peaches in its beak. The stone shades from deep lavender to a greyish color on the reverse.
