Lot Essay

The inscription here reads, ...atala Allah baqa'ahu (May God prolong his existence).

A closely related tiraz with similar kufic script is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. It is dated AH 357/967-8 AD (Anna Contadini, Fatimid Art at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, 1998. p.61, pl.14).
