Louis Vuitton replaced the trademark Gris Trianon canvas with a red striped cloth in 1872, subsequently introducing additional colour ways of the Striped canvas, in shades of maroon and beige, in 1876. This canvas was superseded by the Damier canvas in 1888, followed by the Monogram canvas in 1896.
