The lot is sold with a letter describing the Spithead review held in honour of peace with Russia and in recognition of the role of the Royal Navy. Queen Victoria reviewed the fleet in the 'Victoria and Albert'. The vessels reviewed were twentyfour ships of the line, nineteen frigates and corvettes, eighteen paddle vessels, four armoured floating batteries, one hundred and twenty gun-boats, a sailing frigate and a hospital ship. Admiral Sir george Seymour commandered the fleet in 'The Royal George'
