    Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1956 and its subsequent sale on 3 November 1956. It has never been offered at auction before and is thought to be one of 9 examples of reference 2496 in pink gold to appear in public to date.

Reference 2496 was introduced into the market in 1951 and made in different case materials and with different dial versions. It was also available with the more common, smooth case or with the "Clous de Paris" decoration, such as the present watch.

Reference 2496 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 160.
