With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1954 and its subsequent sale on 30 November 1954.
To the best of our knowledge, this watch is one of only three examples of a reference 2549 in yellow gold to appear in public to date.
Reference 2549 is one of Patek Philippe's most extravagant post war designs. Launched in 1953, the model was available in yellow and pink gold with different bezel versions.
Examples of reference 2549 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 153.
