With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial, raised Breguet numerals in steel, radium dot minute ring in 1943 and its subsequent sale on 13 June 1944.
Fresh to the market and recently overhauled in the workshops of Patek Philippe and still retaining the "International Customer Service" sticker to the case back, this reference 565 is preserved in very good overall condition. Its dial, featuring the much sought after Breguet numerals and the rare retailer signature Tiffany & Co., has been replaced, most likely during the servicing. Its sunburst finish renders the watch a typical modernistic look generally found in 1960s watches.
Reference 565, the first large water-resistant watch featuring a two-piece case with screw back and dust cover, was available with either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds. The timelessly modern design of reference 565 served as inspiration for the creation of the 2006 stainless steel inaugural reference 5565.
