Lot Essay

The present figure relates to Negbi's "Ugarit" group, distinguished by their flat silhouettes, elongated faces and beaked noses. Many of the group, as with the present example, were once entirely coated in silver sheet; see p. 11 in Negbi, Canaanite Gods in Metal.
