FLOWN ON APOLLO 13 – United States flag.
An American flag carried aboard Apollo 13 and intended to be brought to the lunar surface.
SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Fred HAISE on the bottom white bar: "Flown around the moon on Apollo 13 Fred Haise LMP." A flag intended to be taken out to the lunar surface by astronaut Fred Haise. Unfortunately, a loss of electrical power disrupted the mission and forced the crew to abandon their plans to land on the Moon. Haise's provenance letter specifies that the flag was stowed in his Personal Preference Kit (PPK).
Nylon flag, 4 by 6 inches. Displayed on Fred Haise's typed and signed provenance letter dated 11 April 2005.
