Lithographed panoramic view of San Francisco on five panels, joined overall image 320 x 2704 mm (sheet 384 x 2751 mm) linen-backed, with title printed in gilt on blue paper and mounted on verso of first panel. Folded as issued into original red cloth boards, upper panel gilt-lettered, lower panel with gilt device: "Buswell & Co. S.F.;" "Historical Sketch of California" broadside as front pastedown; original cream-toned varnish. (Lacks ties, some light rubbing and staining, fourth section with few tiny words of imprint trimmed away.)
