Lot Essay

Blashfield worked on the murals for the Mahoning County Courthouse between 1909-10. For similar studies of multiple hands on one sheet see two drawings executed in 1909 in preparation for a mural at the U.S. Post Office, Custom House and Courthouse, Cleveland (L. Amico, The mural decorations of Edwin Howland Blashfiend (1848-1936), exhib. cat., Williamstown, Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, 1978, nos. 30 and 31).
