"In a remarkable series of drawings done during his short life span, Ramanujam evolved a highly unorthodox style, revelling in an elaborate choreography of marks produced by the scratches of a pen, stroking rapidly over a white sheet of paper. Severing his drawings from all conventions of figure-ground relationships, he employed a network of verticals and horizontals, loops and twists to knit the image together." (S.
