Lot Essay

A pastel portrait of a girl in the same pose as the present drawing, but with her hands held differently and in less elaborate costume and headgear, is in a private collection in Los Angeles (B. Sani, Rosalba Carriera, Turin, 1988, no. 210, pl. 184).
