With a swan neck pediment above a pendant-carved frieze, the astragal glazed doors enclosing a moiré silk-lined interior with thirteen adjustable shelves, the base with a secretaire drawer fitted with an arrangement of ivory-handled drawers above a pair of doors enclosing three slides, flanked on each side by a single drawer above a door enclosing four further satinwood fronted drawers on a plinth base, with S-pattern locks, stamped on the top 'JOHN WATSON, NEW OXFORD ST, WC'

John Watson is listed in C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700 - 1830, Leeds , 1996, p. 54, and p.938, fig. 937. Gilbert speculates that Watson was probably a Victorian furniture broker who stamped his stock.
