'DA TIAN DI' (Sky and Earth)
Pineapple lacquerware, also known as rhinoceros hide lacquerware, is an old and prized craft. The first pineapple lacquerware appeared in the Three Kingdoms period (220-280), but over the following 1800 years, the technique was lost and rediscovered several times. Layers of lacquer are spread on the surface of a fine form. After sanding and polishing a dreamlike flowing grain appears, rich, lustrous and natural.
