12 ILLUSTRATIONS OF OTTOMAN SULTANS, OTTOMAN TURKEY, POSSIBLY EARLY 18TH CENTURY Arabic manuscript on buff paper, gouache heightened with gold and silver, lines of black naskh above, the first of the portraits shows Sultan Ahmet III ibn Mehmet (1703 - 30) as a boy riding a horse, the other eleven of preceding Sultan's, all enthroned, ending with Uthman Ghazi (1281 - 1324), opening folio depicting 'Ali ibn Abi Taleb mounted on a horse and his two sons Hasan and Husayn with followers, final folio depicting a zebra standing in profile -- Folio 31.6 x 20.7cm.
