The Porsche 356C was announced in the summer of 1963 and was the final version of its type before the all-new six cylinder 911s were introduced in 1965. The steel chassis frame was basically unaltered from the B and the body was the T6 design with twin air intakes on the enlarged rear lid, an enlarged windscreen and rear window and a bigger front bonnet. The interior was also virtually unchanged and in fact quite spartan when compared to other sports cars of the day. Just two engine options were available, either the 75bhp 1600C or 95bhp SC, the former fitted with twin Zenith carburetors rather than Solex. The biggest difference was in the braking as the C now had four wheel discs, which made a significant difference to the stopping power. In all some 16,668 356Cs were built and they were praised for their quality of finish, panel fit, engineering integrity and roadholding capabilities.
This lovely example is a very early 1964 1600C Coupe that has had just three owners from new. The car is delightful, with beautiful Light Ivory paintwork and straight, unmarked panelwork. The interior has black leather seats with dark grey carpeting, a correct steering wheel with full circular horn ring, always a speciality on various 356 models, and a Porsche blanking plate for a radio. Lap belts are also fitted. The indicated mileage is only 33,570 and indicative of the car's lovely condition. It really is a sweet example of its type and we thoroughly recommend inspection, as there can be few such 356s in such fine condition.
