Tied with two others (both in the present sale) for finest of 29 examples from the S.S. Central America treasure certified by PCGS. Date logotype lightly impressed, slightly left and somewhat high, bottom of 1 twice the distance from dentils as top is from truncation, left edge of lower serif over left side of dentil. A spidery die crack connects the final three stars to the rim below the last star; another joins the bottoms of the date numerals. Crossbar of A in STATES thin but connected at its left side, several letters in the legend are filled with die roughness. Die clash marks above the eagle.
